Your grant was declined? You have 90 days to appeal. Here's exactly how to do it.

✅ You Have the Right to Appeal! Every South African has the right to appeal a declined SASSA grant. The process is free and you have 90 days from the date of the decline to submit your appeal.

Step-by-Step: How to Appeal Online

1 Go to srd.sassa.gov.za

Visit srd.sassa.gov.za and log in with your ID number and phone number.

2 Find the "Submit Appeal" option

Look for "Appeal" or "Submit Appeal" in the menu. Click it.

3 Select the month you are appealing

Choose the specific month for which your application was declined.

4 Select your decline reason

Choose the reason SASSA gave for declining your application.

5 Submit your appeal

Click submit. You will receive an SMS confirming your appeal has been received. Keep this for your records.

6 Wait for the outcome

SASSA must respond to appeals within 60–90 days. They will SMS you with the outcome.
