Who Qualifies?
- ✅ You are the primary caregiver of a child under 18
- ✅ South African citizen or permanent resident
- ✅ Income below R4,800/month (single) or R9,600/month (married)
- ✅ You can claim for up to 6 children
- ✅ The child must live with you
Required Documents

How to Apply
1 Gather all documents
Make sure you have the child's unabridged birth certificate. This is the most important document.
2 Visit SASSA office
Go to your nearest SASSA office. Arrive early — offices open at 8am. Take a number and wait.
3 Fill in application form
A SASSA official will help you complete the form. It is free.
4 Receive a decision within 30 days
