Most SASSA declines are preventable. Here's what to check before and after applying.
Always use the SAME phone number that you registered with. If you change numbers without updating SASSA, you won't receive OTPs and SASSA may reject your application.
If you are registered as a UIF contributor — even from an old job — SASSA may decline your SRD application. Go to the Department of Labour to confirm your UIF status before applying.
SASSA checks your banking data. Even if it's money transferred from a family member or a once-off payment, it may count as "income". Keep this in mind.
Only apply at srd.sassa.gov.za. Third-party sites, WhatsApp groups, or "helpers" cannot apply on your behalf — they may steal your identity or charge you fees.
SASSA approves your grant month-by-month. Even if you were approved last month, check again this month. If you were declined, appeal within 90 days.
